The Story

Arriving in America in the mid-1800s an immigrant couple from Norway journey to Koshkonong Prairie, Wisconsin, to spend their lives raising a family and proudly creating a farm with outstanding skill and dexterity that harkens craftmanship of every age.

By Christmas 1937, the last of the second generation had died and the farm sat in quiet testimony that the family had even passed that way.

Today the residence is being rebuilt and the story of these deferential and strong-willed people begs to be told.

The purpose of this work is to provide information about the true story of the Gjermanson family for those interested plus to solicit further information from those who can provide it. This hopefully will be included in a future edition.

Residents in the greater Stoughton area have for years traded stories, tales, and legends about this particular settler family (for example, that they raised wolves in the basement). It's about time to set the record straight. This is the true story.
